WELLENFORMEN
Wellenformen launches a new concert and residency series at Westwerk dedicated to musical encounters and collaborative creation. For five days, musicians from different contexts come together in Hamburg to develop new material collectively, culminating in a first live presentation on stage.
At its core is the shared process: improvisation, experimentation, and the exchange of distinct musical perspectives. What will emerge over the course of the week remains open - the concert at the end offers a one-time glimpse into this moment of collaboration.
EDITION II
For the second edition, Naama Freedman and Peter Thiessen meet for the first time in this particular constellation: two artists with markedly different practices and experiences.
Naama Freedman was born in Tel Aviv and is now based in Hamburg, where she works as an artist, musician, performer and DJ. Her practice brings together music, performance, video, sound and installation. Trained as a pianist and singer, she also studied composition. As a musician, she works across experimental and performative formats and collaborations, while also maintaining an active practice as a DJ. Her artistic work often brings music, voice, language and movement into close relation. In Hamburg, she initiated the concert series Cinéma Sonore, in which silent films are accompanied live by musicians.
Peter Thiessen studied Fine Art at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (HFBK). He is the singer, lyricist and guitarist of Kante, formerly played bass with Blumfeld, plays cello in the Garth Erasmus Broken String Ensemble and bass with School of Zuversicht. Since 2006, he has worked as a musical director, composer and live musician in theatre, including at Vienna’s Burgtheater, the Salzburg Festival and Berlin’s Schaubühne. He initiated the postcolonial music theatre project „Das Haus der herabfallenden Knochen at Kampnagel“ and the exhibition project „Sand !Hu Sand“ at Kunsthaus Hamburg. At the centre of his practice is the relationship between language and music.
During the five-day residency, Naama Freedman and Peter Thiessen will develop musical ideas and forms together at Tobias Levin’s Electric Avenue Studio. What takes shape remains open. The work developed during the residency will be presented publicly for the first time at the concluding concert.

EDITION I
The first edition brings together three singular voices from the European experimental music landscape:
Anushka Chkheidze
The Georgian composer and sound artist works across electronic music, electroacoustic composition and experimental pop sensibilities. Her work weaves fragile textures, rhythmic structures and a finely tuned sense for sonic detail.
Sebastian Lee Philipp
Musician, producer and the driving force behind the project Die Wilde Jagd. His work moves fluidly between psychedelic song forms, electronic soundscapes, orchestral arrangements and improvisation.
Thomas Klein
Drummer and electronic musician. Performing solo as Sølyst while also shaping the sound of the band Kreidler, his work navigates a space between krautrock, electronics, minimalism and experimental pop.
During the five-day residency at the Electric Avenue Studio of producer Tobias Levin at Westwerk, the three artists will develop a new collaborative set, to be presented publicly for the first time on April 11, 2026 at 20:00 at Westwerk Hamburg.
