The third single 'Blei' conjures the spirit of MTV-era widescreen pop, all windblown new-wave grandeur.

Recorded in 2024 in Seoul, you will find on ‘Fluoreszent' ten shiny, fresh, joyous songs taking you to many wonderful places; from Kraut to Goth, Synth Wave to Art Pop, Cosmic to Comic - and all the way to the end of the rainbow. Important contributions came from unexpected sides: legendary German krautrock drummer Wolfgang Seidel gave him permission to use a lot of his beat recordings, a connection was made by Seoul-based German free music pioneer Alfred Harth, (who also took the album cover photo), more drums came from Philipp Janzen of the band Von Spar (who also did the final mix of the album) and the mastering is by Jörg Burger, another living legend of the Cologne electronic music scene.

A sharp sophomore LP that shakes a cocktail of musical influences into an irresistible blend of smooth, synthetic pop. If their 2020 debut Der Große Preis saw the N(ewer)DW angst of their early releases give way to bubbling boogie and kosmische funk, this 11-track outing dives headfirst into the deep blues and sunset hues of yacht rock and groove-laden jazz fusion, all while retaining their signature lyrical bite.

After the first single “Im Dunklen” in February, the second track „Bittere Gifte“ is out now, accompanied by a one-take car wash video.

Peter Baumann, a member of the legendary Tangerine Dream period and a defining force in the Berlin School of electronic music, heralds the arrival of his latest solo album Nightfall, with the hypnotic brilliance of lead single “From A Far Land”, a cinematic soundscape where cascading tones and eerie chimes entwine with giallo-infused piano and pizzicato strings. Driven by a pulsating bassline and intensifying percussive thrust, the track builds toward a ritualistic crescendo, as Mediterranean horns wail through a haze of dub effects.

Mit der zweiten Single vom Anfang Mai erscheinenden Album »Ruinenkampf« erwischt uns Das Kinn im Unbehagen des Post-Wahlkampf-Gemenges: »Die Ratten, expressiv, aggressiv: »Die Ratten suchen ihren Fänger / Sie suchen und finden die Erlösung im Volksempfänger. Abgesang, auch politisch zu lesen, auf jene gegenwärtige, weitreichende Idiotie, die sich aus allem herauskotzt und die man sich in ihrer grenzenlosen Dummheit nicht ausdenken kann«, schreibt Hendrik Otremba im Pressetext über das Stück »Die Ratten«.

Wie immer im Hotel im außersaisonal weitgehend verlassenen Meersburg am Bodensee aufgenommen, erstmalig mit echtem Schlagzeug und insgesamt einem Setup, das nach “full band” klingt, großteilig aber von Joshua Gottmanns und Niklas Wandt kommt, mit ausgewählten Gästen! „Die Klausuren am See, diese Fluchten in die v.a. nächtliche Arbeit sind für uns eine Notwendigkeit geworden, und ich glaube, sowohl die Konzentration als auch diesen Eskapismus, das Streben in die Ferne, das Hinauswaten ins Ungewisse spürt man ganz deutlich. Musikalisch, weil wir in dem merkwürdigen Vakuum dieser Tage dort ohne jegliche funktionale Hintergedanken an die Geräte gegangen sind und natürlich vor allem textlich, vieles von Umbrüchen, Vorahnungen, aber auch Hinter-sich-lassen und überwinden. “Wie leicht sich die alte Haut abstreift, ganz von allein” - wenn es dann geschieht, dann kaum merklich und flüssig. So ist es uns mit vielen der Stücke ergangen, sie tauchten auf wie aus einer Nebelwolke, brüchig teils, dann wieder grotesk und fast pompös - viele dieser zunächst beiläufig hervortretenden Adern haben wir weiterverfolgt. “Im Dunkeln” etwa begann ganz schlicht als Riff am Fender Rhodes, das im eingemotteten Speisesaal des Hotels stand.“

Reason enough to dedicate an entire album to the Austrian capital. The idea for this came about when Dorau and two friends were working on a map of Lübeck and exploring its untold stories away from the usual attractions. Dorau became fascinated with portraying a city from the perspective of an unbiased tourist, visitor and outsider.
